Parent Coaching
The Reading Specialist and the Reading Center Faculty have considerable expertise in working with parents to ensure student success in reading. Parents and a member of the Reading Center team can work together to develop an action plan to meet the student’s needs at home. When appropriate, parents can share the action plan with school personnel. Materials are available for check-out to support the action plan.
Parent Improvement and Skill Development Training
Over the years we have found that to help your child succeed academically requires patience and understanding. The Reading Center provides parent training to help parents continue to develop the necessary skills to meet the ever-changing demands of raising children in today’s world. The parent training includes how to handle anger and upset, set clear limits, apply consequences, and to be and stay consistent. The four-part training provides parents and guardians with a certificate suitable for framing.
