Summer Reading Camp
Students from throughout the Tri-county region are encouraged to attend the Reading Center’s Summer Reading Camp. Students attend camp Monday-Friday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Students are offered a more relaxed fun-filled “Reading & Writing Are Good For Me” curriculum to promote a positive attitude towards reading. CSUMB college students will be camp counselors and work side by side with the reading specialist. Students will be engaged in projects using the computer to improve their reading and writing skills, individualized reading tutoring, outdoor activities, and group reading and writing activities. The goal of Summer Reading Camp is to have fun and learn along the way. The Summer Reading Camp is coordinated and directed by the reading specialist. The goal is to enrich your child’s summer vacation by maintaining and improving upon previous reading and writing skills. Call to sign up today!

Cost? $300 with a $100 deposit due by July 20, 2013.

Programs will target decoding longer words, fluency practice, comprehension skill and strategy building, writing skills, spelling, grammar, and vocabulary development. Pre and post assessments will be administered to show growth. Pre camp assessment needs to be scheduled with the Reading Specialist before camp starts. Assessments will take approximately 1/2 hour.
